Sarah Anne Callies (now known as Sarah Wayne Callies, taking her
mothers maiden name "Wayne") was born in La Grange, Illinois on June 1, 1977.
After the death of a family member she and her family moved to Honolulu,
Hawaii in 1978.
She is the daughter of two University Professors, her father is a Law
Professor and her mother is a English Professor at University of Hawaii.
In High School she landed the lead role in the school's production
of Shakespeare's "As You Like It". Sarah graduated from Punahou High School
in 1995, she then continued her
education to Ivy League Dartmouth College in New Hampshire which she did
a Senior Fellowship of Ingenious Studies and undergraduate emphasis of
Feminist Studies she graduated in 1999. She did not stop there she
had a passion to act so she then continued to Denver's National Theater
Conservatory where she earned a Masters of Fine
Arts Degree in 2002. She can't forget her roots at Dartmouth because she married
Josh Winterhalt a 1997 graduate.
After she left Denver she moved to New York where she quickly got into the
entertainment scene, she got her first starting role playing opposite Oliver
Platt on NBC's drama Queens Supreme. She has since had roles
on L.A. Dragnet, Law and Order: SVU, Numb3rs and
the short lived WB series Tarzan and her biggest role was playing Dr. Sara Tancredi on Fox's Prison Break, also she was chosen as L'Oreal's new faces of 2003. She's currently playing Lori Grimes on AMC's The Walking Dead. Sarah has two movies coming
out, Foreverland (2012), Black Gold (2011) and Faces in the Crowd (2011) with
Milla Jovovich.
Sarah still a Hawaiian at heart, she speaks basic Hawaiian and enjoys
traditional Hawaiian music, she also likes dancing the Argentine tango
and has taken up low-flying trapeze. When not working, she spends as
much time as possible at home with her husband Josh, playing chess and
cooking. They also like to get outdoors and backpack. Sarah her husband and daughter, currently are living between
Atlanta, Canada and Los Angeles.
